Why Buy Now?
We've heard from some owner-operators that they're planning to wait until closer to the ELD mandate deadline to purchase. With just over 3 months left to go, you're cutting it a little close if you haven't got a solution in place yet!  There are a number of reasons you shouldn't wait - here are a few things you should think about:

Consider Taking Advantage of the AOBRD Grandfather Clause
BigRoad DashLink DL-200 with CordUnder the ELD mandate, you can take advantage of the AOBRD grandfather clause. If you have an automatic onboard recording device (AOBRD) installed and being used in your vehicle before December 18, 2017, you can continue using it for an additional 2-years, taking you to December 16, 2019 before you need to transition to an ELD.

We recommend this approach for our users. This allows you to use the more flexible AOBRD until you and your fleet become comfortable with engine-connected logging. This minimizes the learning curve, allows for more editability, and makes for a smoother transition. If you want to learn more about the difference between AOBRD and ELD, check out this recent blog post. When you're ready to transition to ELD, it's a simple software update - no need to swap out hardware.

Make Sure You've Got Time
We've all heard about the potential ELD shortage - and not to scare you - but this could be a reality. The last thing we want to see is drivers having to go with a less reputable ELD because their solution of choice has been sold out or there is a long wait to get the actual device. Additionally, if you want to take advantage of the AOBRD grandfather clause, you need the device installed and being used before December 18, 2017. This means that you can't order it on December 18 and be compliant!

Pay For Your ELD By Referring Your Friends
ReferralForm-SignUp-Graphic.pngAnother way you can help offset the cost of ELD compliance is by participating in our BigRoad Referral Program - where it pays to have friends! Sign up for the program, refer your friends, and get a $75 reward for each one that purchases a DashLink ELD!

There's no limit to how much you can earn either! Rewards are issued in the form of a gift card of your choice or a pre-paid credit card which can be used towards the purchase of your DashLink! As an added bonus, your friend also gets a $25 reward to help them out! It doesn't get much better than that!
