5 Signs It's Time to Switch ELD Providers
1. You Can’t Reach Support
Does it feel like pulling teeth to get a support representative on the phone? You’re not alone. Many drivers and fleets are complaining that they can’t get in touch with technical support, and when they do reach someone, they are not very knowledgeable or helpful. If this sounds familiar, it could be a red flag.
Well-trained, accessible training and support teams are an extension of your organization. If you or your drivers are stuck, you should be able to rely on your solution provider to help you so that you or your drivers can focus on the road ahead and delivering loads on-time. If this isn’t the case, it might be time to explore your ELD options.

2. Back Office Tasks are Overly Complicated
Using an ELD should make managing driver logs easier, not more difficult. If you’re spending an unreasonable amount of time managing logs since implementing ELDs, there might be a problem!
In just a few taps, you should be able to locate a driver’s logs from the previous day, find out how much drive time they have available, and pull a list of HOS and DVIR violations that occurred during a specific timeframe. If you can’t complete these basic tasks quickly, you need a better solution that will make you and your staff’s jobs easier and more efficient.
3. Your Drivers Don’t Like The Solution
It’s true - many drivers are resistant to switching from paper logs to ELDs, but that doesn’t mean their complaints should go unheard. After the solution is committed to, the provider hits you with additional fees for device activation, data packages, installation, training, and implementation.
Your ELD solution provider should act as your compliance partner, and you need to be able to trust them. If you’ve been misguided by less-than-transparent pricing, it might be time to look for another provider.
5. Your Provider Popped-Up After the ELD Mandate
Having a solution provider that is experienced in hours-of-service (HOS) rules and regulations and driver-centric solutions is critical if you want to be able to count on them to keep you running in compliance.
A lot of providers jumped on the ELD bandwagon at the last minute to pad their pockets. If you don’t feel like your solution provider is experienced in building solutions with drivers in mind, it might be time to look at your options!
