Transport Canada has issued a letter that motor carriers and their employees can fill out to identify themselves as essential workers.
The purpose of this letter is to confirm that a named person is employed by a trucking company, so that safety authorities will allow this named employee to move freely in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

As set out in the Government of Canada’s Guidance on Essential Services and Functions in Canada during the outbreak, the named employee in the letter is deemed critical to trucking companies’ operations. Therefore, the named employee is required to work in a vehicle, onsite to fulfill a critical operations role or is Management or an Executive required to travel on behalf of the trucking company.
The named employee should also have the ability to travel from their home to trucking companies’ facility for their shift, and or between our facilities in order to execute the operational requirements, leadership and or safety of their facilities and employees.
If safety authorities have any questions, they are directed to reach out to the trucking company to confirm that the named employee is complying with the Government of Canada’s Guidance on Essential Services and Functions in Canada during the outbreak.
